We were recently tasked to transport a 400kVA generator to the Geita Katoro Gold Mine in Tanzania by a client who was referred to us.
This project showcased our ability to manage long-distance transport logistics across Kenya and East Africa, and our client couldn’t hide his joy when we arrived at the site within the three-day deadline he had set for us.
The Journey of the 400kVA Generator to Geita Katoro
The transport of a 400kVA generator is no small feat. These types of generators are large, heavy, and require specialized vehicles for safe movement.
For this project, we utilized our self-loading lorry with a crane, which allowed us to load and unload the generator efficiently without the need for additional equipment at the site.
The generator was carefully loaded onto the lorry at our yard in Kenya and prepared for the journey to Geita Katoro, a remote mining area in Tanzania known for its gold mining operations.

A 3-Day Journey to Tanzania
The journey to Geita Katoro took three days, covering hundreds of kilometers across challenging terrain. Transporting a generator of this size required precise planning and coordination.
Our team had to ensure that all necessary permits and documentation were in order, as crossing international borders adds an additional layer of complexity to logistics.
The trip began in Nairobi, Kenya, and followed a route through the bustling highways, rural roads, and across the Isibania /Sirari border.
Our experienced drivers navigated these diverse road conditions with the utmost care, ensuring the generator remained secure throughout the journey.
The lorry’s built-in crane was especially useful at the final destination, as it allowed us to offload the generator directly into the client’s chosen location at the gold mine without needing additional equipment on site.
Self-Loading Lorry with Crane: The Ideal Solution
